Now that August 4th has come and gone, time to tell you about July 4th!
We started the day by finding a local parade. Emphasis on the word local....it was a little lack luster. Lots of people promoting their agenda. No bands. No candy. Not much pizzazz. But it was lovely weather, and fun to get out as a family anyway.
Papillon looking bored cause she was hoping for more marching bands.
Hibou, content cause there were people. That's all she needs to be entertained...people!
Later in the afternoon, we found our most patriotic outfits for a little photo shoot.
Patriotic sister-smooch.
Hibou found the bunny ears and was suddenly confused as to what holiday it was.
Me and my girlies.
That evening we went to a potluck picnic with our church small group. Hibou got an early birthday present (the tutu, custom made by a good friend!) and insisted on wearing it over her dress.
This is one of the girls' best friends. She's close to Hibou's age, and a hilarious, spunky little girlie.
Popsicles!
And watermelon.
Trying to decide whether or not to share her water...
Hibou's pretty skilled at drinking from a cup on her own. And she loves it.
Someone's sunglasses got stepped on. So Papillon snagged them. It's a good look for her.
As the sun began to set, we took the party inside, then headed out to climb to the top of a parking garage and watch the...
....fireworks!
Papillon had been really excited all day about fireworks. But when the moment came (despite the fact that they were delightfully far away), she watched one or two, then decided they were "too loud" and said we should go home.
