Memories Part 6: The Honeymoon

Quite possibly the most interesting fact about our honeymoon is that we accidentally left our camra behind. We realized that we left it behind when we were about 3 hours into our 6ish hour drive. So we didn't go back. Which means we don't have any pictures. We did buy some disposable cameras while we were there - but those pictures didn't really turn out.
Due to the lack of entertaining pictures (other than the one above of our cabin which I borrowed from the locations website), I will try and keep this post brief.

Our honey moon was lovely - and incredibly relaxing. We spent a week in a cabin on a 1,200 acre farm in the woods/mountains of Pennsylvania. We had no cell phone reception, so no one could reach us. We canoed, swam, hung out, watched entire seasons of The Office, toured a local dairy farm and a local winery, went to the movies, saw a skunk and were chased by a devil cat. It was good times.

Perhaps one of my favorite memories, though, was when we went puddle jumping. It had rained a lot one afternoon (hence the watching of lots of The Office) and just before the evening, the sun peaked out briefly. And we decided to go puddle jumping! Literally. We went outside, got a running start, and jumped in the puddles. At first it was just innocent fun. But eventually it became competitive - competing to see who could get the other person the most muddy. There is an art to it - because if you jump straight down in a puddle you just get yourself muddy. You kind of have to jump at an angle to send the splash forward towards your victim. I think Mon Amour won.

That was fun enough in and of itself - but possibly the best part of the memory involved trying t return to the cabin to dry off.

We had locked ourselves out.
Oops.

I don't think we really locked the door much all that week - so who knows why it was locked now. But it was, and we were on the wrong side of the door.

My solution was to walk to a nearby cabin and ask to borrow their phone to call the lady who owned the place and get her to bring over a spare key.
That was obviously too embarrassing an option given that we were in out swimsuits and covered in mud.
So Mon Amour discovered an alternative. We removed the screen from off the kitchen window (which it was obvious had been done before. haha) and then open the window from the outside, and crawl in that way. It was more complicated than it sounds - the window was a little bit high, so we had to move the very heavy picnic table over next to the house. And we had to make sure to remove the screen in such a way that we could put it back without damaging it too much. And of course, the window was right over the kitchen sink, and there were a few un-done dishes in the sink.

Despite all these obstacles, we did get in, unlock the door, and put the screen and the picnic table back in their proper places. And our puddle jumping adventure became not just our most random adventure, but also one of the most memorable.

I hadn't known the puddle jumping story before - how fun!

Laura and Austin want to go in two years. Miriam said she wants to keep her options open, but will go if there are babies to hold :).
No pressure.
