Europe Trip Part 4: Lugano, Downtown

Lugano is pretty much the most mountainous city I have ever seen. Everything is either straight up, or straight down the mountain. For pedestrian tourists, this gets rather exhausting. But, we had to explore everything, so up and down we went.

Downtown was adorable, and it it hadn't been so far "down" I think we would have spent even more time there.

Here we are on our way down...having already been walking down for at least 15 minutes.

Looking back up where we came from.

In case you didn't like the winding back and forth method - you could also go straight down the steps.

Once you got all the way down though, the lakeside view was gorgeous!

Other fun things about downtown included:

The produce.
One of the highlights of the trip or me was visitng a variety of grocery stores. And hands down, without a doubt, Americans having become way to content with the crappy produce that American grocery stores pass off as fresh.
The picture above is of some beautiful strawberries at a produce stand - but the stuff in the chain grocery stores was just as beautiful! I have never seen strawberries, tomatoes, peppers, apples, berries, and so much more, look SOOO good.

The oldness.

You know the town is old, when a tree this size is in the heart of downtown.

The gelato.
It was yummy.

The giant chess board in the little park.
People played chess allllll day long. And they took it very seriously.

George Washington
What is he doing here? Who knows, we obviously had to take a picture.
