Europe Trip Part 8: The Bubbles

In every good tourist-y town, there must always be a way to get up above the town and take some nice almost-aerial shots. In the case of Grenoble the method of choice to getting to such a vantage point was the Telepherique (aka, The Bubbles)

As dutiful tourist, we rode them. Despite the fact that we are both (to varying degrees) afraid of heights.

They start from here:
Note to self, the Bubbles don't stop as they come through the station; they slow down a bit, but don't stop. So you might fight many years of training, and NOT wait for the vehicle to come to a complete stop before getting on/off.

Then you go up and up.
This is me holding on for dear life. I didn't look down, or around, or anything. Mostly I closed my eyes or stared at my lap. There are pictures of this too....but I won't be posting any.

This is the view of Mon Amour's dorm from the Bubble. It went right past his window, which is largely the reason we HAD to ride the Bubbles. He watched it go past his window everyday for months and never rode. We had to remedy that.

It just keeps going up.

Until you pull into the station at the top.
From the top, you can enjoy many lovely views.

We took some pictures. But for really fabulous ones, just go here.

You also get to enjoy reading these cute little (random) plaques.True.

Also true.

Ok.
In case you are wondering - its actually not a typo (like out Bathtub(e) was), there is actually a bee hive here atop this mountain - installed by some famous dude or something. We didn't read the whole story - just saw that the Bee thing was intentional and quit reading.

This, though, was my favorite.

Sure. I guess. Maybe.

I am kind of thinking that this might be a poor translation of a phrase that makes more sense in French...but who knows.

It was a lovely Bubble ride to the top - well worth riding up.
But you can also hike it. So we hiked back down. It was well worth it not to have to ride those things again.

And we ran into a nice fellow who took our picture. So here is a token picture of us. To prove we were there together.
